Several members of The Funk! Creative Community have worked with Kelly and I since we first met in Rancho Cucamonga, CA over a decade ago at Halloween-themed Photo Shoot at a lovely local winery!

We just so happened to have on the exact same boots with the exact same color tongues!! What??? The boots had interchangeable tongues and we both chose the same color and that's how we became friends. Lol.

Over the years we have worked together, celebrated life together, lost touch with each other, and reconnected! Life is funny like that, but I am so grateful for our latest joint adventure!!

Meet Sabrina!

Guess how we met?!?!

Do you remember the July Featured Creative, Dana Holliday?

She referred Sabrina to me for a wall mural at The Funk! Creative Community! Center!! and our connection was undeniable!

Sabrina is so connected with nature, art, and the beauty of life despite its darknesses. She is embracing her art journey and the positive impact it has on mental health by creating unique, meaningful, emotional, and spiritual pieces that connect with the soul!

I am so excited and honored to be collaborating on artwork that will symbolize our connections, our journeys, our dreams, our opportunities, and the magic and beauty we are able to share!

Have you heard of Encaustic Wax Art?

Until I met Dana, I had no idea it existed, I recently was able to attend a live demonstration, and I was so amazed by the process and skill shown!

Dana Holliday is an artist living in Thomasville, NC. She has been actively painting murals for over 20 years. Over the last few years, Dana has adopted encaustic wax as a preferred medium and has been exploring more textured and three-dimensional elements in her artwork.  Dana has been influenced by Impressionism and the works of Georgia O’Keefe while travelling to Europe, South America and New Zealand, she gathered ideas, techniques and the qualities of many cultures to integrate into her highly unique artistic style. She has created many works with a realistic or impressionistic flair and is currently exploring the spontaneity of more abstract art.

Dana loves people and her outgoing and personal style makes her a wonderful person to work with in your home or office. Dana’s special gift is to bring life to the visions of her clients and bring those visions to reality.

I, personally, am extremely grateful to know her and am excited to continue enjoying her art for years to come!

Laura does too, lol. That's how we met. 

You may recall that I had opened a physical location for The Funk! inside of another local business at the end of 2023 after teaching Belly Dance classes there for a few months. 

During that time, Laura moved her business, Sunny Creek Boutique into the space two doors down and I immediately fell in love with the unique style and affordable prices!

Over the next few months, we'd visit with each other and chit chat about business, our ideas, and our plans.

She shared that she also had a full-time job, a part-time job, five kids, and another business!! A true miracle worker!

Now, ironically, she is operating both businesses in the space where I used to be, expanding drink offerings from Barney's Brews, and delicious fresh-squeezed lemonade from "The Sunny Lemon". Just one more talent of hers!!

Do you love supporting youth creatives and entrepreneurs?!?!

I had the honor and pleasure of meeting this lovely, young, creative individual at a local Youth Entrepreneurs Summit hosted by our local SBA at the lovely Finch House in Thomasville! I kk=new immediately by her jacket that we were going to have a strong connection and boy was I pleasantly surprised!

As a guest Entrepreneur, I had the opportunity to rate the pitches of some driven and talented high school students. All of them were extremely brave and did a great job! Amelia was exceptional, though! 

I may be a little partial to her concept but being the youngest person there pitching and already operating her business, in addition to a full school, sports, and family life; she just blew me away!
